The Ordo Sepulturum

The Ordo Sepulturum is one of the Inquisition’s smallest Ordos Minoris, a specialist wing built to hunt warp-spawned plagues. If the Zombie Plague or the Obliterator Virus shows up somewhere, these are the Inquisitors who get the call.

What the ordo sepulturum actually is

It’s one of the many Ordos Minoris, the smaller specialist branches that sit alongside the big three (Malleus, Hereticus and Xenos). Where those ordos chase daemons, heresy and aliens, this one chases disease.

The ordo started out with a single, narrow job: stamping out a heretical zombie plague. Over time it widened its remit to cover other warp-spawned infections that threaten the Imperium, and it tends to operate around the Eye of Terror, where that kind of thing is common.

Why it exists at all

Plague Zombies have been recorded across the Imperium for millennia, so this isn’t a new problem. What changed was scale. The Plague Fleets of the Chaos Champion Typhus pushed the threat up to something the Imperium has to treat as a serious danger rather than a local mess.

The ordo’s founding is tied to Abaddon’s 13th Black Crusade. In the run-up to that campaign, Zombie Plague incidents spiked hard around the Cadian system. A growing number of Thorian Inquisitors were already investigating, and once enough of them were talking to each other, the ordo was formally created.

How it fits into the wider Inquisition

Think of it as the Inquisition’s disease-control desk. It’s tiny, it’s specialised, and it only shows up when the problem is biological and probably daemonic in origin.

Since the Great Rift opened, the ordo’s reach has stretched further. It now works on outbreaks across the whole galaxy rather than being concentrated near the Eye of Terror.

  • Part of the Ordos Minoris, not one of the big three ordos
  • Founded to fight a heretical zombie plague, later broadened to other warp-spawned plagues
  • Handles the Zombie Plague and the Obliterator Virus
  • Traditionally operated around the Eye of Terror
  • Expanded galaxy-wide after the Great Rift

Notable Inquisitors

A few names are attached to the ordo in the lore. Aghastri, Morgravia Sanctus and Sleevik are the ones recorded as members.
