The Taurox

The Taurox is the Astra Militarum’s go-anywhere armoured personnel carrier, built to haul a squad of guardsmen through terrain that would stop a Chimera. Its quad tracks and supercharged engine make it a favourite for long campaigns and lightning counterattacks.

What the taurox does

The Taurox carries twelve soldiers and can mount a wide array of heavy weapons. Its thick armour plates, four tracks, and supercharged engine let it keep up speed across ruined cities and rubble-strewn wastelands alike.

Standard armament is twin-linked autocannons on the sides or turret, plus a pintle-mounted storm bolter. It’s slightly less tough than a Chimera, but its ‘Castellan’ quad-tracks make it far more mobile.

  • Crew: one driver, one commander (typical)
  • Capacity: twelve soldiers
  • Standard guns: twin-linked autocannons, storm bolter
  • Tracks: four ‘Castellan’ quad-tracks
  • Role: armoured personnel carrier, counterattack transport

Why commanders like it

That mobility is reliable enough that Imperial Guard commanders often bring Tauroxes on long campaigns spanning multiple war fronts. Whether the regiment fights in a hive, a jungle, or open plains, the Taurox performs.

Its ability to punch through seemingly impossible terrain also makes it an ideal counterattack asset. Commanders hold back squads of heavy infantry in Tauroxes, then throw them in to halt enemy assaults before they can build momentum.

Taurox Prime

The Taurox Prime is a more heavily armed assault version used by Tempestus Scions. It’s a shock weapon, smashing into enemy strongholds after crossing terrain that would stop other vehicles.

Because Scion missions vary so much, the Prime can carry a Taurox battle cannon, twin-linked Taurox gatling cannons, hotshot volley guns, autocannons, or a Taurox missile launcher.

Other users and variants

The Departmento Munitorum uses a lighter Taurox built for city streets. It has armaglass cab windows and runs on tyres instead of tracks, and the Astra Militarum also fields it.

Imperial Knight House Griffith is known to employ the Taurox as part of its Household Guard’s armaments.
