Ezekiel

Ezekiel is the Chief Librarian of the Dark Angels, and by his Chapter’s own reckoning the strongest psyker they’ve fielded since Lion El’Jonson walked among them. He’s the keeper of their darkest secrets and one of the few people in the galaxy who can look into the future and not flinch.

Who is Ezekiel?

His full title is Ezekiel, Grand Master of Librarians, Keeper of the Book of Salvation, Holder of the Keys. That’s a lot of ceremony, but it tells you what he actually does: he guards the Chapter’s most dangerous lore and holds the keys to the cells and vaults where the Dark Angels keep their shame.

He was born on Delphyna III around 516.M41, recruited at ten years old after the Dark Angels conquered the world and found him locked in a dungeon. He was frail, but his psychic potential was huge, and the Librarium took him in.

His final test as an aspirant was to survive a senior Librarian’s mental assault. Ezekiel didn’t just survive it. He opened his mind back at Meroth and showed him his own tormented past so vividly that the Librarian collapsed. That’s the moment the Chapter knew what they had.

Why he matters

Ezekiel is the Dark Angels’ chief diviner and one of their most trusted advisors. When his foresight was burned out after a daemon on Korsh wrecked his mind, he relied on the visions of his student Turmiel and passed them up the chain to Azrael and the other commanders.

He’s also a strategic asset. He led the Deathwing on Korsh, fought through the Battle for Honoria in 949.M41, took part in the Pandorax Campaign, and was present during the Arks of Omen crisis, including the Siege of the Rock and the Battle of Idolatros. Where the Chapter’s most sensitive operations go, Ezekiel tends to be nearby.

His role in the Librarius is a big deal too. He succeeded Danatheum as Grand Master of Librarians, which puts him in charge of every psyker in the Chapter and its successors.

Titles and wargear

His titles are worth knowing because they map onto the Dark Angels’ whole secret-keeping culture. Keeper of the Book of Salvation and Holder of the Keys aren’t decorative. They mark him as one of the few who knows the full truth about the Fallen and the Chapter’s hunt for them.

Holder of the KeysControls access to the Chapter’s most restricted vaults and cells

Connections to other lore

Ezekiel’s gene-seed traces back to Lion El’Jonson, so he’s a “son” of the Primarch in the same way every Dark Angel is. That link matters more for him than most, since his psychic strength is often compared to the Lion’s era.

He trained Turmiel, a fellow diviner, which ties him to the wider Dark Angels cast around Azrael and the Deathwing. He also shares a name with a much older Dark Angels Captain called Ezekiel, sometimes known as Cloud Runner, so don’t mix the two up.

If you’re following the Fallen storyline or the Dark Angels’ modern campaigns, Ezekiel is one of the threads that connects their secret history to their current wars.
