The Miral Prime

The Miral Prime, often just called Miral, was a jungle death world in the Ultima Segmentum. It served as a Chapter homeworld for the Scythes of the Emperor until Hive Fleet Kraken destroyed it, and later became a target for reconstruction during the Indomitus Crusade.

Overview

Miral Prime was a harsh jungle world, its surface dominated by dense, dangerous vegetation. Its most notable landmark was a rocky mesa called the Giant’s Coffin, which housed an outpost of the Scythes of the Emperor Space Marine Chapter.

The planet also supplied deathworld veteran regiments to the Astra Militarum. Its native human population was mostly savage troglodytes living on rocky plateaus.

A day on Miral lasts 32 hours and 17 minutes by Terran standard. The world was classified as a death world, jungle world, and Adeptus Astartes homeworld before its destruction.

  • Location: Ultima Segmentum, Miral System
  • Class: Death World, Jungle World, former Adeptus Astartes Homeworld
  • Notable feature: The Giant’s Coffin (rocky mesa with Chapter outpost)
  • Native population: Primitive human troglodytes (presumed destroyed)

History

After their original homeworld Sotha was destroyed by Hive Fleet Kraken in 993.M41, the surviving Scythes of the Emperor fled to the Miral System. They initially planned to resupply at their outpost on Miral Prime and move on, but Chapter Master Thorcyra ordered them to establish a new fortress-monastery there.

The Tyranids followed them. Trapped on Miral, the Scythes made their last stand at the Giant’s Coffin. They suffered catastrophic losses, and fewer than a single company escaped. In the aftermath, the Battle Barge Heart of Cronus subjected Miral to Exterminatus.

The survivors, less than a company, fled the planet. Miral was left to the Tyranids and then purged by Exterminatus.
