A daemon world is a planet so thoroughly corrupted by Chaos and the warp that it stops obeying normal physics. These places matter because they’re the ultimate prize for Chaos forces, and once a world falls, the Imperium often can’t take it back.
What makes a daemon world
A daemon world is a planet trapped inside a prolonged warp rift, where the impossible stuff of the warp bleeds into real space. Physics stops applying. Instead, the world bends to whatever its daemonic ruler wants and to the raw emotions of the mortals stuck there.
That mix of warp and reality is what defines these places. They aren’t just corrupted worlds. They’re sub-realities where the rules are set by a Daemon Prince’s whims rather than by gravity or natural law.
How a world falls
The usual path starts with cults and covens spreading Chaos worship and weakening reality from within. Eventually a warp storm swallows the planet whole, sealing it off from the rest of the galaxy.
The population gets poisoned by the psychic taint of the warp, and the world rots from both outside and inside. If the storm ever clears, what’s left is a horror: a planet twisted in body and mind, a glimpse of a future where warp and reality have merged completely.
Who rules, and how
Most daemon worlds belong to a Daemon Prince. They earn a world by conquering it, and their patron god hands it over as a reward. Once in charge, the Prince reshapes the planet however they like, which is why no two daemon worlds look alike.
The four Chaos Gods constantly fight over these worlds. Their daemon armies and mortal allies wage wars that can drag on for centuries, turning entire planets into giant arenas. The gods themselves just watch. Their generals are Greater Daemons and favoured Princes who understand both the material universe and the warp.
Where they’re found
Most known daemon worlds sit inside the Eye of Terror, but that’s not a hard rule. Plenty of worlds in the Eye aren’t daemon worlds at all, like the Imperium’s Lost Worlds. And Chaos doesn’t limit itself to the Eye either, it’ll corrupt a planet anywhere it can.
The few daemon worlds inside Imperial borders get watched closely by the Inquisition. That’s because the warp’s reality-shifting effects make them nearly impossible to destroy with Exterminatus. You can’t easily virus-bomb a planet that doesn’t follow normal rules.
Key facts

FAQ
Can a daemon world be destroyed?
Almost never. The Inquisition guards the few inside Imperial space because the warp’s reality-shifting effects make Exterminatus all but impossible to pull off.
Who rules a daemon world?
Usually a Daemon Prince who conquered it. Their Chaos patron god gifts them the world, and they reshape it however they please.
Are all daemon worlds in the Eye of Terror?
No. Most known ones are found there, but Chaos creates them elsewhere too, and not every world inside the Eye is a daemon world.
