The Long Fangs are the Space Wolves’ heavy weapons specialists, the equivalent of a Devastator Squad in other Space Marine chapters. They’re among the most experienced warriors in the chapter, trusted with rare and powerful guns that can turn the tide of battle.
Who they are
In most Codex chapters, Marines join a Devastator Squad early on, right after serving as Scouts. The Space Wolves do it the other way around. Only the most seasoned warriors, those who’ve already proven themselves in the Blood Claws and Grey Hunters, get promoted into the Long Fangs.
By the time a Space Wolf joins the Long Fangs, he’s fought for centuries. The Canis Helix has done its final work, and his elongated canines have grown to full length, strong enough to dent plasteel.
Why they matter
The Long Fangs carry the chapter’s heavy weapons, each one a relic that’s incredibly rare and sometimes impossible to replace. That’s why only the wisest and most experienced are trusted with them.
They know exactly when and where to unleash that firepower to support their brothers. Their centuries of battle experience make them deadly accurate and calm under pressure.
Wargear and the Predator Annihilator
Long Fangs can take the same heavy weapons as any Devastator Squad: heavy bolters, missile launchers, multi-meltas, plasma cannons, and lascannons.
They also played a key role in creating the Predator Annihilator. During the Skarath Crusade in M36, a Great Company was surrounded by Traitor Legion forces. The Long Fangs and Iron Priests ripped the autocannons out of their Predators and replaced them with the Long Fangs’ lascannons. The armoured hulls let them get close enough to destroy the enemy tanks. The Adeptus Mechanicus wasn’t happy at first, but eventually approved the modification, and other chapters copied it.

Connections to other lore
The Long Fangs sit at the top of the Space Wolves’ tactical ladder. They’ve already served in the Blood Claws and Grey Hunters, so they understand both furious assault and deliberate firepower.
Their creation of the Predator Annihilator shows how they adapt to the battlefield. That tank is now the main anti-vehicle vehicle for the Adeptus Astartes, a lasting legacy of Long Fang ingenuity.
