The Dark Reapers

The Dark Reapers are the most sinister of the Aeldari Aspect Warriors, dedicated to Kaela Mensha Khaine in his role as the Destroyer and harvester of souls. They’re the heaviest-equipped Aspect, built for long-range fire support that shreds even the toughest targets.

Who the Dark Reapers are

Every Aspect Warrior embodies a facet of the Aeldari god of murder, Kaela Mensha Khaine. The Dark Reapers take the darkest one: the Destroyer, the harvester of souls. Where other Aspects chase speed, stealth, or close-quarters slaughter, these warriors stand off and erase things from a distance.

They trace their lineage to Maugan Ra, the Phoenix Lord called the Harvester of Souls, who founded their shrines. From him they learned that even the mightiest weapon can be wielded with scalpel precision, and that accuracy is a point of pride.

Their colours are the blacks and dark blues of the night sky. Their rune is the Scythe that Harvests the Living, inverted to carry morbidity, unconventional talent, and merciless intent.

How they fight

The signature weapon is the Reaper Launcher, which throws a hail of armour-piercing missiles that can drop even the best-protected foes. With it, Dark Reapers control the battlefield and pick targets at will.

Their Aspect Armour is heavier than most: interlocking plates, powered limb supports, and boots with stabilisers and clamps that lock them to the ground against recoil. The helmet’s rangefinding gear, including sensor vanes, lets them lock onto fast-moving vehicles and mind-link with the launcher so they can ‘see’ out of its muzzle.

The trade-off is mobility. All that gear and weapon weight makes them slower than other Aspect Warriors, which matters little for a unit whose job is standing back and shooting. They typically operate in squads of three to five, one of whom may be an Exarch.

  • Role: long-range fire support
  • Phoenix Lord: Maugan Ra, the Harvester of Souls
  • Colours: black, purple, white
  • Signature weapon: Reaper Launcher
  • Note: disproportionately common on Craftworld Altansar, where Maugan Ra is venerated

Why they matter

The Dark Reapers give Aeldari armies a reliable answer to heavy infantry, vehicles, and anything else that relies on armour to survive. Their accuracy and armour-piercing missiles make them one of the most feared shooting units in the faction.

They’re also a window into Aeldari psychology. The Aspect shrines let Eldar channel the war-mask of Khaine without losing themselves to it, but the Reapers walk closest to the Destroyer’s edge. That’s why they read as sinister even by Aspect Warrior standards.
