The Pariah Nexus Animation

The Pariah Nexus animation is a three-part Warhammer 40,000 series that premiered on Warhammer+ in late 2023. It follows a handful of Imperial survivors trapped on a Necron-overrun shrine world, and it’s one of the more grounded, horror-leaning stories in the streaming service’s lineup.

What it is and where to watch it

It’s a 60-minute series split into three roughly 20-minute episodes, made by M2 Animation with Games Workshop. It premiered on Warhammer+ in September and October 2023.

The production used a real-time pipeline from concept through to final delivery, which is part of why it looks the way it does. If you’ve seen the trailer, that’s the same footage expanded into a full narrative.

  • Episodes: 3, around 20 minutes each
  • Premiered: Warhammer+ in 2023

The story: three episodes, one nightmare

Episode 1, ‘A Mark Presented’, opens on the shrine world Paradyce after a devastating Necron attack. A Sister of Battle named Danica and a Cadian guardswoman try to survive the ruins while Illuminor Szeras experiments on human souls and unleashes a Deathmark to hunt survivors.

Episode 2, ‘Doctrine and Discipline’, shifts to Sa’kan, a Salamanders Space Marine and the last of his squad after his Thunderhawk goes down. He meets a priest and some civilians, then clashes with Danica over whether they deserve to live.

Episode 3, ‘On Her Blindness’, pushes Danica to choose between her faith and her morality as Sa’kan’s wounds worsen and the Deathmark closes in. It’s the payoff to the tension the first two episodes build.

How it connects to the wider lore

The Pariah Nexus itself is a region of the Nephilim Sector where the Indomitus Crusade is grinding against an awakening Necron dynasty. The series is set inside that conflict, so it’s a ground-level view of a war the tabletop game covers on a much bigger scale.

Illuminor Szeras is the big connective thread. His soul experiments and his use of a Deathmark are the show’s Necron hook, and they tie directly into the Pariah Nexus storyline that ran through the Warhammer 40,000 rules and campaign books.
