Deliverance is the Raven Guard’s home world, a barren mining moon orbiting the forge world Kiavahr. It’s where Corax led a slave revolt and where the chapter’s fortress-monastery, the Ravenspire, still stands.
What and where is Deliverance?
Deliverance is a moon of Kiavahr in the Kiavahr system, inside the Forsarr Sector of Segmentum Tempestus. It’s classified as an Adeptus Astartes homeworld and a mining world, with a tithe grade of Adeptus Non, meaning it doesn’t pay the standard Imperial tithe.
It’s airless and barren, so its people live under force domes and work massive mining complexes. Together with Kiavahr, the two worlds churn out ordnance and war machines on a scale close to a forge world. Gravity on Deliverance is about 0.5G.
From Lycaeus to Deliverance
The moon was originally called Lycaeus. Its first population were exiles from Kiavahr, slaves and criminals forced to mine under the watch of overseers from the world below.
That changed when the primarch Corax arrived. He united the oppressed workers and led a revolution that toppled the ruling Tech-Guilds. After the liberation, the freed slaves renamed the moon Deliverance. Soon after, the Emperor arrived, brought the moon into the Imperium, and made it the homeworld of the XIX Legion, the Raven Guard.
Later, in 996.999.M41, Deliverance lay in the path of Waaagh! Garaghak.
The Ravenspire and the Blackchine Redoubts
The Raven Guard’s fortress-monastery, the Ravenspire, occupies the huge black tower that once housed the moon’s overseers. It’s the chapter’s spiritual and military heart.
Deliverance is also ringed by the Blackchine Redoubts, a linked network of trench liners, anti-ship batteries, and fortresses guarding the mining complexes and spaceports on the moon’s dark side. PDF troops man them, but they fight using Raven Guard tactics: hidden strongpoints, secret approaches, and false ramparts that let defenders outmanoeuvre attackers without giving away their positions.
Why Deliverance matters
Deliverance is more than a base. It’s the Raven Guard’s origin story made physical: a place of oppression turned into a symbol of liberation. The chapter’s preference for stealth, speed, and striking from the shadows traces directly back to Corax’s rebellion and the moon’s brutal mining past.
It’s also a key industrial asset. The Kiavahr system’s output supports the Raven Guard’s war machine and the wider Imperium, which is why the moon is so heavily fortified.
