The Skull Bearers are a loyalist Codex Chapter of Space Marines, known for their yellow armour and a lineage they claim but can’t prove. They’ve turned up in some of the Imperium’s nastiest fights, from the Badab War to the Octarius War, which makes them worth knowing about.
Who they are
The Skull Bearers are a Codex-compliant Chapter, meaning they follow the standard organisation laid down in the Codex Astartes. Their homeworld is Keletros, though records don’t say much about it.
They claim to descend from the Executioners, a Chapter that itself traces back to the Imperial Fists. That claim isn’t backed up by official records, so treat it as a Chapter legend rather than confirmed fact.
Notable engagements
The Skull Bearers have a long service record. In 508.M41, their 2nd Company took part in the Imbach Genocide, supported by at least one Whirlwind Helios from the Chapter Armoury.
Between 775 and 780.M41, the whole Chapter deployed to the Fourth Quadrant Rebellion and played a key role in crushing it. In 801.M41 they fought in the Judgement of Hellenus.
More recently, they fought in the Octarius War defending the Pankallis Sub-Sector in M42, and committed a demi-company and a Strike Cruiser to the Fourth War for Armageddon as part of Operation Imperator.
- 508.M41: Imbach Genocide (2nd Company)
- 775-780.M41: Fourth Quadrant Rebellion (entire Chapter)
- 801.M41: Judgement of Hellenus
- M42: Octarius War, Pankallis Sub-Sector
- M42: Fourth War for Armageddon (demi-company and Strike Cruiser)
Heraldry and colours
They wear yellow power armour with black Imperialis and markings. The Chapter symbol is a black skull on a yellow background, and they display a Company badge on the left kneepad.
If you’re painting them, that’s a straightforward scheme: yellow base, black details, skull icon.
| Element | Detail |
|---|---|
| Armour | Yellow |
| Markings | Black Imperialis and trim |
| Chapter symbol | Black skull on yellow |
| Company badge | Left kneepad |
Vessels and related lore
The Os Furia is a known Strike Cruiser of the Chapter, committed to the Armageddon campaign.
As an Imperial Fists-descended Chapter (if you believe the claim), they sit alongside the likes of the Executioners and other successors. They’re loyalists, not renegades, despite the grim name.
