The Angels Encarmine are a Second Founding successor Chapter of the Blood Angels. They’re famous for being constantly at war, which keeps their numbers low and their Death Company uncomfortably large.
Who they are
The Angels Encarmine were created during the Second Founding from the Blood Angels Legion. Their Chapter Master, Castellan Zargo, couldn’t sit still, so he led his Battle-Brothers on campaign after campaign. That constant warfare means the Chapter is rarely at full strength, but what they lack in numbers they make up for in sheer determination.
Their gene-seed shows serious instability. The Death Company almost never numbers fewer than thirty warriors, which is a worrying sign. They were also the first Blood Angels successor to put Primaris Space Marines into their Death Company.
Colours and organisation
The Chapter’s emblem is a red blood drop with black bat wings. They follow the organisational traditions of their parent Chapter, but their Death Company and Sanguinary Guard wear pure white alabaster armour instead of the usual black or gold.
Sources disagree on their main armour colour. Older codexes show them in vermillion with a yellow chest eagle and black trim, while later material describes red with black backpack and pauldron trim. Both versions appear in official publications.
Notable battles
They fought at the Battle of Hell’s Hollow in 266.M37, helped reclaim Rynn’s World from Orks, and destroyed the Necron Ithakas Dynasty throneworld of Antikef during an Imperial Crusade. In 991.M41 they took part in the Stromark Civil War.
During the Devastation of Baal around M42, two thirds of the Chapter died fighting Hive Fleet Leviathan, including Castellan Zargo. Later, Angels Encarmine Vanguard Space Marines aided the Blood Angels against the Tyranids in the Angel’s Halo Campaign.
Notable members
Castellan Zargo was the last known Chapter Master, killed during the Devastation of Baal. Other named figures include Ilemnial, a famous Castellan; Arjen, Captain of the First Company; Fracimmion, Captain and Master of the Fleet; and Chaplain Gilgamor. One known traitor, Verngar, joined the Red Corsairs.
