Rynn’s World is an agri-world in the Loki Sector that serves as the homeworld of the Crimson Fists Space Marines. It’s known for the devastating Ork invasion in 988.M41 that nearly wiped out the chapter.
Overview
Rynn’s World sits in the Loki Sector of Ultima Segmentum, southeast of Terra. It’s a sparsely populated, mountainous planet devoted to intensive agriculture, and before the invasion its population was around 200 million.
The world isn’t owned by the Crimson Fists. It has its own Planetary Governor, and the chapter just uses it as a base. Because it’s so peaceful, it’s not suitable for recruitment or training; the Fists prefer Blackwater for that.
Its location near the Ork Empire of Charadon makes it somewhat isolated, with the closest human world being Badlanding.

History
In late M40, the Crimson Fists were granted fiefdom over Rynn’s World for their role in the Voltigern Crusade. They turned their damaged battle barge into a fortress-monastery called Arx Tyrannus, built in the Hellblade Mountains.
An Ork invasion in 725.M40 is also recorded, showing the planet’s long history of conflict.
The world stayed largely peaceful until 988.M41, when the Arch-Arsonist of Charadon, Snagrod, launched a massive Waaagh! against it. That war changed everything for the Crimson Fists.
The invasion of Rynn’s World
The invasion began after the Crimson Fists failed to stop Waaagh! Snagrod on Badlanding. The Orks then hit Rynn’s World with overwhelming force, destroying the Imperial fleet and orbital defences.
During the initial assault, a rogue missile from the planet’s own defence system struck Arx Tyrannus, destroying the fortress-monastery and most of the chapter’s gene-seed. Over three-quarters of the Crimson Fists were killed.
Without the Space Marines, the human settlements fell quickly. Only New Rynn City, the capital, held out. The surviving Crimson Fists, led by Chapter Master Pedro Kantor, defended the city until Imperial reinforcements arrived.
Those reinforcements included the Imperial Fists, White Scars, White Panthers, Storm Lords, Angels Encarmine, Blood Drinkers, and Minotaurs. Together they liberated the planet, though the cost was staggering. The battle for the Hellblade Mountains alone cost the 15th Imperial Army over a million soldiers.
| Battle | Date | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Invasion of Rynn’s World | 988-991.M41 | Imperial victory, but chapter nearly destroyed |
| Battle for Traitor’s Gorge | Late M41 | Unknown |
Aftermath
The Crimson Fists were left with fewer than 200 battle-brothers. They’ve spent the centuries since rebuilding, but the loss of their gene-seed reserves made it slow going.
Rynn’s World itself was scarred but not lost. New Rynn City survived, and the planet remains the chapter’s home. The memory of the invasion shapes everything about the Crimson Fists today.
