Celestine’s Geminae are the twin guardians who fight beside Saint Celestine, resurrected and empowered by shards of her own soul. They’re more than bodyguards: they’re a clue to how the Living Saint keeps coming back.
What the Geminae actually are
The Geminae Superia are Saint Celestine’s two constant companions, always seen flanking her in battle. They’re Living Saints in their own right, but a lesser kind, resurrected specifically to serve as her champions.
They first appeared as Eleanor and Genevieve, two Canonesses of the Order of Our Martyred Lady. The Daemon Prince Urkanthos killed them during the 13th Black Crusade on Cadia, and Celestine brought them back when she arrived there. Since then, she’s recruited replacements from among the Sisters of Battle whenever the current pair falls.
Why they matter to Celestine’s story
Celestine doesn’t just pick any two Sisters. When she dies, she faces trials where she meets two separate shards of her soul, called Faith and Duty. Those shards don’t merge back into her after she’s reborn. Instead, they persist, and the theory goes that she pours them into whichever two warriors she chooses as her new Geminae.
That would explain why the Geminae always look and act like echoes of the previous pair. It also means Celestine’s survival isn’t a solo miracle. Part of her is always walking around outside her own body, wearing power armour and swinging a blade.
- Eleanor and Genevieve: the original Geminae, killed on Cadia and resurrected by Celestine.
- Tsadrekha: Celestine recruited two new Geminae after the Great Rift opened. They died soon after.
- Kophyn: another pair appointed by Celestine, showing the pattern repeats.
- Sister Persephanae Kauser: one of the Sisters who served as a Gemina.
- Ana: a young Sororitas recruited on Vigilus.
What happens when a Gemina dies
They stay dead, at least until Celestine decides otherwise. The Geminae aren’t immortal in the same way she is. They’re resurrected once by her power, but if they fall again, she has to find new candidates.
That cycle is part of what makes them tragic. They’re chosen for their faith and bravery, then thrown into the worst fights the Imperium has to offer. Most don’t last long.

FAQ
Are the Geminae the same as Saint Celestine?
No. They’re separate Living Saints, resurrected by Celestine to serve as her guardians. But they carry shards of her soul, so they’re closer to her than any other ally.
How many Geminae has Celestine had?
At least three known pairs: Eleanor and Genevieve on Cadia, the two recruited on Tsadrekha, and the pair appointed on Kophyn. Individual Sisters like Persephanae Kauser and Ana have also served.
Can the Geminae come back after they die?
Only if Celestine resurrects them. She did that for Eleanor and Genevieve, but later pairs died without returning.
