The Fists Exemplar were a Second Founding Space Marine Chapter of Imperial Fists descent, founded from the loyalists who backed Guilliman’s plan to break up the Legions. They fought through the War of the Beast, then were wiped from Imperial records on the orders of Maximus Thane.
What the Fists Exemplar were
They were one of the Chapters created in the Second Founding, drawn from Imperial Fists who agreed with Roboute Guilliman that the Legions had to be split after the Horus Heresy. Rogal Dorn judged them exemplars of that new order, and the name stuck.
Because their founder backed the Codex Astartes early, the Chapter held Guilliman in unusually high regard, sometimes even above Dorn. That’s a rare thing for an Imperial Fists successor.
Eidolica and the Alcazar Astra
The Chapter started as a fleet-based force charged with watching the Rubicante Flux, a volatile Warp storm near the edge of Segmentum Solar. They were given the Star Fort Alcazar Astra, a relic that had served the Imperial Fists during the Horus Heresy.
A massive Warp eruption threw the towed fort toward a nearby star. Chapter Master Oriax Dantalion and his captains steered it down onto the planet Eidolica, saving the fort but killing Dantalion. The grounded fort became their fortress-monastery, and Eidolica became their homeworld.
The War of the Beast and the Chapter’s end
An Ork Warlord called The Beast hit Eidolica early, dropping an Attack Moon into orbit and overwhelming the Chapter. Chapter Master Alameda died in the first hours, then First Captain Garthas took over and fell too.
The survivors were scattered among other Adeptus Astartes units, and Maximus Thane, acting Lord Commander of the Imperium, ordered the Fists Exemplar erased from history. The Chapter is listed as extinct.
Colors, strength, and legacy
The Fists Exemplar wore grey ceramite and carried no formal Chapter colors. They’re gone now, but their fate feeds directly into the War of the Beast storyline and the politics of the Second Founding.
