What the Valhallan Ice Warriors are
Valhalla wasn’t always a frozen hellhole. Millennia before M41 it was a verdant paradise, until a comet impact knocked the world out of its orbit and wrecked the climate. The survivors moved underground, carving cities deep into the ice and heating them with the planet’s own thermal energy.
Not long after, an Ork invasion hit. The Valhallans were badly prepared, but they refused to give up their homeworld. They pushed the Orks off-planet and learned how to live in the cold. That double trauma, the ice and the greenskins, shaped everything about them.
Today they’re stolid, unyielding, and built for cold-weather fighting. They also carry a special hatred for Orks above every other xenos race, and commanders often deploy them exactly where that hatred is useful.
