The Incinerator

The Incinerator is a flame weapon built only on Deimos by Adeptus Mechanicus tech-artisans, and made solely for the Grey Knights. It looks like a heavy flamer, but it burns psyflame: consecrated, psychically charged fuel that tears through daemons and the wards protecting them.

What makes it different from a normal flamer

On paper, the Incinerator shares a lot with the Heavy Flamer other Imperial forces carry. The difference is the fuel. It burns psyflame, a mix of consecrated promethium and blessed oils charged with psychic energy.

That fuel is why it matters. The flames burn azure and white, hotter than ordinary fire, and they bypass protection granted by psychic powers or sorcery. Against daemons, that’s the whole point.

In the hands of a psyker, it gets better. A Grey Knight who’s psychic himself can push his own power into the weapon, strengthening and steering the jet of flame.

  • Crafted exclusively on the moon of Deimos
  • Made only for the Grey Knights
  • Fuelled by psyflame: consecrated promethium and blessed oils
  • Burns azure and brilliant white, hotter than regular fire
  • Ignores wards and protection from psychic powers or sorcery
  • A psyker bearer can add his own power to the flame

The smaller Inquisitorial version

After seeing what the Grey Knights’ version could do, Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus wanted one of their own. They got a human-sized variant that works more like a regular flamer.

It’s issued to Inquisitorial Pyroclasts and shows up in Ecclesiarchy hands too. Most of those sit in the armouries of the Convent Sanctorum, with a rare few handed to the most zealous missionaries for purging those who reject the Imperial Creed.

Heavy incinerators

The Heavy Incinerator is a bigger, more powerful take on the Grey Knights’ standard version. So far it’s only known to be mounted on Nemesis Dreadknights, where the extra size and output actually make sense.

FAQ

What is an Incinerator in Warhammer 40k?

It’s a flame weapon made exclusively on Deimos for the Grey Knights. It works like a heavy flamer but burns psyflame, which is consecrated, psychically charged fuel that hurts daemons and ignores psychic wards.

Why is psyflame so effective against daemons?

Because it’s psychically charged and consecrated, it bypasses protection granted by psychic powers or sorcery. That’s exactly the kind of defence daemons tend to rely on.

Can anyone use an Incinerator?

The main version is Grey Knights only. A smaller human-sized variant exists for Ordo Malleus Inquisitorial Pyroclasts and the Ecclesiarchy, and the Heavy Incinerator is mounted on Nemesis Dreadknights.
