The Convent Sanctorum is one of the two primary convents of the Adepta Sororitas, the other being the Convent Prioris on Terra. It’s the religious, administrative, and military heart of the Sisterhood on Ophelia VII, and home to some of the most famous Orders Militant.
What is the Convent Sanctorum?
It’s a vast fortress on Ophelia VII that serves as the headquarters for several Orders of the Adepta Sororitas. The convent is so large and its cloisters so winding that even its overseers don’t fully know what goes on in every chamber.
Alongside the Convent Prioris on Terra, it’s one of the two great convents that split the Adepta Sororitas after the reformation of the Ecclesiarchy.
History
The convent was formed during Ecclesiarch Sebastian Thor’s reformation of the Adeptus Ministorum, when the remaining 4,000 Daughters of the Emperor became the Adepta Sororitas. The Adepta were divided between Terra and Ophelia VII, creating the Convent Prioris and Convent Sanctorum.
When the Adepta grew to over 10,000, Ecclesiarch Alexis XXII split the Orders Militant of the Convent Sanctorum into the Order of the Valorous Heart and the Order of the Fiery Heart. The latter was renamed the Order of Our Martyred Lady after its founder, Saint Katherine Elysius, died.
In M38, Ecclesiarch Deacis VI founded the Order of the Bloody Rose in honour of Mina, champion of Saint Alicia Dominica. He also expanded the convent to accommodate 15,000 warriors, and it’s grown even larger since.
