The Nephrekh Dynasty’s Realm

The Nephrekh Dynasty’s realm is a rich Necron territory near the galactic core, centred on the crownworld Aryand. It matters because it’s one of the few dynasties whose nobles and warriors can briefly become beings of living light, and because its paranoia and wealth make it a dangerous neighbour.

Where the realm sits and what it’s built on

Nephrekh space lies close to the galactic core, which gives it access to dense energy reserves as well as worlds loaded with the precious metals Necrons use to build their legions.

Its capital is Aryand, a crownworld that orbits three stars. That trinary setup is why the dynasty’s symbol is three overlapping circles, and it’s also the source of the solar energy the Nephrekh harness for their great works.

The realm didn’t sit quietly through the Great Sleep. Aryand spent time under the control of the Altymhor Dynasty, who enslaved Imperial settlers living there. When the Nephrekh woke, their phaeron Sylphek launched a war that drove out both the Altymhor and the Imperials.

  • Dynastic symbol: three overlapping circles.

The golden form

The Nephrekh are best known for the Golden Form. High-ranking Overlords can temporarily turn into creatures of living light, and even basic Necron Warriors carry traces of metagold that let them stutter and shift across the ground at frightening speed.

Some sources go further, saying they can teleport across open ground or phase through solid matter. The process is highly classified, and the Nephrekh themselves haven’t worked out how to make the transformation permanent.

Their ultimate goal isn’t a return to flesh. It’s to become beings of pure light, which sets them apart from dynasties chasing biological bodies.

Wealth, paranoia and war

The realm’s riches and its strange abilities have made the nobility increasingly possessive and paranoid, Phaeron Sylphek most of all. He sees plots everywhere, and that mania has spread down through the lesser nobles.

Nephrekh Crypteks suspect sabotage during the Great Sleep damaged the revivification processes on Aryand and several other worlds. The Eldar are the main suspects, but plenty of nobles quietly blame their own kind.

Since the Great Rift opened, the dynasty has been fighting Thousand Sons warbands from the Cult of Time. The Sorcerers want the Necrons’ methods for enslaving the C’tan.

One theory for all the paranoia is that a Phaeron can override the minds of lesser Necrons, so Sylphek’s personality may be bleeding into his subordinates. Against anyone they think is plotting against them or their treasures, the Nephrekh are brutally violent.
