The Falcon

The Falcon is the Aeldari’s main grav-tank, a fast and flexible war machine that can either transport troops or serve as a main battle tank. It’s one of the Craftworlds’ most iconic vehicles, blending speed, firepower, and a mythic name that echoes Eldar legend.

What is the Falcon?

The Falcon is a grav-tank used by the Aeldari (Eldar) of the Craftworlds. It’s built for speed and adaptability, able to carry a small squad into battle or fight as a main battle tank depending on how it’s armed.

Its name comes from Faolchu, a figure in Eldar mythology. Faolchu was the consort of the Great Hawk and, during the War in Heaven, retrieved the sword Anaris from Vaul so the hero Eldanesh could keep fighting Khaine. That story of delivering a weapon and pulling allies out of danger is echoed in how the Falcon fights: strike hard, then extract troops if things get rough.

Speed and construction

Anti-grav generators give the Falcon incredible speed and agility. It can hit speeds up to 800 kph and climb higher than comparable Imperial craft, giving it limited flight. Its pilot and gunner are veteran pilots, often trained on jetbikes, and they use cloud cover to hide before swooping down on targets.

Like other Eldar vehicles, the Falcon is made from Wraithbone and psycho-plastics. These materials are lightweight but incredibly strong, and they’re attuned to Eldar psychic abilities, so the crew can control the tank with thought and gesture. Other races can’t duplicate or operate it.

The Falcon can be built on any Craftworld, and even many Exodite worlds can manufacture and repair it.

Weapons and transport

The Falcon’s turret mounts a standard Pulse Laser, but the gunner can swap it for a Scatter Laser or Shuriken Cannon for anti-infantry work, a Starcannon for light armour, or a Bright Lance or Missile Launcher for heavier anti-tank firepower. Twin-linked Shuriken Catapults sit under the cockpit and can be replaced with a single Shuriken Cannon. Upgrades include a Holo-field, Spirit Stones, Star Engines, and Vectored Engines.

In its transport role, the Falcon carries up to six fully-equipped Eldar, such as Guardians or Aspect Warriors, in a sealed, pressurised compartment at the rear. It can’t carry larger constructs like Wraithguard. Monitors let the troops watch the outside environment.

  • Standard turret: Pulse Laser
  • Alternate turrets: Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Starcannon, Bright Lance, Missile Launcher
  • Hull weapons: Twin-linked Shuriken Catapults (or a single Shuriken Cannon)
  • Upgrades: Holo-field, Spirit Stones, Star Engines, Vectored Engines
  • Capacity: up to six Eldar (no Wraithguard)

Design variations

There’s more than one aesthetic design for the Falcon, thanks to different Bonesinger Design Schools. Both versions have the same weapons and rules, but as dominant schools changed, older designs became less common. You’ll still see both on the tabletop and in art.
