Warp Spiders

Warp Spiders are Asuryani Aspect Warriors who slip through the Warp to strike without warning and vanish before anyone can hit back. They’re the brave, strange, and terrifying side of the craftworlds’ war machine.

Who they are

Warp Spiders are one of the Aspect Shrines of the Asuryani, the craftworld Eldar. Each shrine channels a facet of their war god, Kaela Mensha Khaine, and the Spiders embody his trapping and slaying of intruders in the realm of the gods.

They take their name from the warp spiders that guard a craftworld’s Infinity Circuit, and they’re the Aspect most removed from the usual Eldar mindset. Bleak, insular, and rarely seen alongside other shrines, they’re also considered the bravest simply because of how they fight.

How they fight

Using jump generators, Warp Spiders step briefly into the Warp and re-emerge in the Materium almost instantly. That lets them appear behind an enemy line, hit hard, and be gone before the retaliation lands.

The trick is deadly for the user too. Even a short trip through the Warp exposes them to daemons and the raw stuff of that dimension, with their souls on the line. They accept that risk every time they jump.

  • Squads usually number five to ten, led by an Exarch.
  • Their doctrine is aggressive defence: attack first, from an unexpected angle, then disappear.
  • They wear bulkier armour than most Aspect Warriors, trading speed for protection that their teleportation makes up for.

Wargear

Every Warp Spider carries a jump generator built into their armoured backpack. It’s the device that makes their whole style of war possible.

Their ritual weapon is the Death Spinner, a monofilament weapon that cuts through flesh and bone with ease. Combined with their armour, it turns a brief appearance into a very lethal one.

Phoenix Lord and shrine

The Phoenix Lord of the Warp Spider shrine is Lhykhis, known as the Whispering Web. The name is thought to come from Kaelorian lore about the Lhykosidae, or Wraith Spider.

Their main colours are red, black, and white. Shrines dedicated to Lhykhis train their warriors in ambush tactics and the disciplined use of the jump generator.
