Ghazghkull Thraka

Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka is the most infamous Ork Warlord of the 41st Millennium, the self-styled Prophet of the Waaagh! who turned Armageddon into a graveyard of Imperial hopes.

Who is Ghazghkull Thraka?

Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka started as a lowly Goff trooper on the isolated Ork world of Urk. Through brutal cunning and sheer ambition, he united the planet’s clans and led them on a warp exodus to the Imperial hive world of Armageddon.

He’s known by many names: the Imperium calls him the Beast of Armageddon, while his own kind hail him as Da Great Warlord. His name roughly translates from Low Gothic as ‘Metal-skull big Ork ruler’.

Rise to power and the wars for Armageddon

After uniting Urk, Ghazghkull led his Orks to Armageddon, kicking off a savage war that became the Second War for Armageddon. There he met Commissar Sebastian Yarrick, the man who’d become his ‘Grod’, or nemesis.

Even though he was defeated, Ghazghkull kept control of his Warhorde and rebuilt for a second invasion. That became the Third War for Armageddon, a grinding war of attrition that eventually pushed him to seek a bigger purpose.

Da Great Waaagh! and the psychic call

During the Third War, Ghazghkull felt a call from Gork and Mork. He left his forces on Armageddon and set out to stir up conflicts on a galactic scale, launching Da Great Waaagh!.

By feeding on constant battle, he unleashed a psychic shockwave across the galaxy, calling all Orks to join ‘Da Big Scrap’ or ‘Ragna-Ork’, a sort of Ork paradise of endless fighting. He then chose the site for the next great war: the Fourth War for Armageddon.

What makes him different

Ghazghkull isn’t just a brute. His real weapon is a brutal, cunning intellect. He studies his enemies, counters their strengths, exploits their weaknesses, and adapts huge strategies on the fly. That’s rare for an Ork.

In battle, he spends as much time commanding his troops as fighting himself, making sure ‘da plan’ is followed. Compared to typical Ork leaders, he shows surprising restraint.
