Accatran is a forge world on the edge of the Ork empire of Charadon, and it’s best known for making Accatran pattern weapons: lightweight lasguns, laspistols and shotguns built for drop troops. If you’ve seen Elysian models or Cadian kits with unusual lasguns, you’ve probably met Accatran’s work.
What Accatran actually is
Accatran is an Imperial forge world in the Ultima Segmentum, sitting right on the edge of the Ork empire of Charadon. That’s a rough neighbourhood, and it shapes everything about the place.
The surface is a polluted hellscape. The Mechanicum rulers live deep underground, closer to the core, and status is literally measured by depth: the higher your rank, the closer you live to the planet’s centre. Visitors get flown down through landing tunnels and dropped off at a level that matches their standing.
It’s also home to the Legio Destructor, the Titans known as the Beasts of Steel.
- Class: Forge World, production grade IV-Secundi
- Tithe: Aptus Non
- Ruled by Magi who live near the core; only scavengers and the desperate stay on the surface
- Residents wear mostly black robes
Why Accatran pattern weapons exist
Accatran’s whole reputation rests on its weapon patterns. They’re built light, and that’s the point. Drop troops need gear they can carry and fire after a hard landing, so Accatran leans into lightweight las and shot weapons rather than heavy, overbuilt kit.
Mars looks down on Accatran compared to forge worlds like Tigrus, and the world is really a dependency of Ultramar rather than a true equal ally. But that hasn’t stopped its guns from showing up across the Imperium, especially with Elysian drop regiments.
| Weapon | Pattern |
|---|---|
| Laspistol | Mk II |
| Heavy laspistol | Mk IX, MG variant |
| Lasgun | Mk IV, Mk IVe |
| Shotgun | Mk XI, model 34 |
Accatran in the Horus Heresy
Accatran’s founder was Xerxes Immortalis, a warrior-magos who legend says kept the world safe through more than a thousand years of the Age of Strife. When Accatran joined the Imperium, it sided with Terra over Mars and threw its military, the Taghmata Xerxes, behind the Great Crusade.
That loyalty made it a target. The Traitors marked Accatran for destruction at the start of the Heresy, and a big chunk of the Taghmata Xerxes was caught in the Calth muster. The main army was wiped out during the Betrayal at Ithraca, though it took a brutal toll on the attackers too.
In modern 40k, Accatran is still a forge world, still loyal, and still making the lightweight weapons that bear its name.
- Founder: Xerxes Immortalis
- Military force: Taghmata Xerxes
- Destroyed at Calth during the Horus Heresy
