The Morkanaut

The Morkanaut is a hulking Ork walker built as a tribute to Mork, the cunning Ork god. It’s a one-machine army: a Mekboy’s pet project loaded with energy weapons, a massive claw, and enough firepower to flatten a settlement. If you want a centrepiece that’s as dangerous as it is loud, this is it.

What is the Morkanaut?

It’s a heavy Ork walker, a piloted machine that towers over Deff Dreads and Killa Kans. Orks build it as an effigy to Mork, so it’s meant to embody cunning and brutal trickery rather than brute force alone. That said, it still hits like a falling building.

A Mekboy builds, arms, and pilots it. These pilots are often outcasts: Badmeks kicked out of their tribe for things like using the Weirdboy hut for target practice. They tend to join a Great Waaagh! or a Freebooter warband, hunting for other races’ tech. Plenty of them start their new career by flattening their old settlement first.

Weapons and wargear

The main gun is a Kustom Mega-Kannon, backed up by an oversized Power Klaw called the Klaw of Mork. It also carries two twin-linked Big Shootas, two Rokkit Launchas, and a Kustom Mega-Blasta.

In 10th edition the datasheet swaps some of that around: a Kustom Mega-Blasta, a Kustom Mega-Zappa (blast), Rokkit Launchas (blast), and Twin Big Shootas. It’s a mixed loadout, so you can chip infantry and crack armour in the same turn.

How it plays on the table

With Toughness 12, 20 wounds, and a 5+ invulnerable save, it soaks a lot of punishment. Objective Control 8 means it can sit on a point and dare the enemy to shift it. Move 8″ is decent for a walker, so it won’t be left behind.

Its guns are Orky: short-ranged, high-strength, and Hazardous. The Mega-Blasta and Mega-Zappa can hurt their own pilot if you roll badly. That’s the trade-off for damage that ignores most armour. Keep it near a Mek or Big Mek for repairs if you can.

Morkanaut vs Gorkanaut

They’re sibling walkers, one for each god. The Gorkanaut is the brawler, built for close combat and dedicated to Gork. The Morkanaut leans on energy weapons and trickery, fitting Mork’s reputation for cunning.

In practice, both share the same chassis and similar stats. Pick the Morkanaut if you want more ranged punch; pick the Gorkanaut if you’d rather charge. Some players run one of each and let the opponent decide which problem to deal with first.

  • Its ranged weapons are Hazardous, so they can hurt the walker itself.

FAQ

Is the Morkanaut a Gorkanaut?

No, they’re separate units. The Gorkanaut is dedicated to Gork and built for melee; the Morkanaut is dedicated to Mork and carries more energy weapons. They share a similar frame but have different datasheets.

Who pilots a Morkanaut?

A Mekboy builds and pilots it. Many are outcasts or Badmeks who’ve been exiled from their tribe and now roam with a Waaagh! or Freebooter band.

What’s the Klaw of Mork?

It’s the Morkanaut’s oversized Power Klaw, its main close-combat weapon. In 10th edition the datasheet focuses on its ranged loadout, but the claw is still part of its identity in the lore.
